Michael Ramos, Dallas, TX:
Michael Ramos is the reigning Big Squeeze champion having won in 2013. He hails from Dallas, Texas where he is currently a senior at Gilliam Collegiate Academy. After he graduates this year, he will pursue a college education and aim to form his own conjunto.

As a child, he had picked up the accordion a few times.
His uncle first introduced him to the accordion. When he was about 13, he began to take the accordion seriously. While his uncle's accordion was not in the best shape, Ramos made do. When his parents noticed he took to the instrument enthusiastically by learning rancheras and polkas, they bought him his first Hohner accordion. Ramos is versatile on other instruments as well. Not long after he began learning the accordion, he turned his attention to the bajo sexto, a 12-string rhythmic guitar prevalent in conjunto and norteño. In the past year, he picked up the bass. He plays with a local conjunto in Dallas. Ramos has been profoundly influenced by late legendary conjunto accordionists such as Angel Flores, Ruben Vela and Tony De La Rosa. He also cites norteño influences from groups such as Los Cachorros de Juan Villarreal. Video clip
