Texas Folklife is proud to present our radio stories from Fulmore Middle School, produced by Fulmore students with assistance from teacher Dani Brandimarte and Texas Folklife producers. Over the past two weeks, Fulmore students have worked on radio production, interviewing, and audio editing techniques, as well as creative writing strategies. This series of five interview-based podcasts is the result of their hard work.
Fulmore podcasts were produced as part of Stories from Deep in the Heart, Texas Folklife's award-winning community media education program. In Stories classroom podcast workshops, students learn to take creative control over the media they produce and consume. They also learn valuable interview, interpersonal, and research skills as student journalists.
The podcast listening party will begin at 11:15am in the Fulmore Middle School library and will last approximately 45 minutes. Light refreshments will be available at the event. Parents, teachers, and community members are invited to attend.
“Stories from Deep in the Heart” is supported in part by the members of Texas Folklife, and through grants from the Texas Commission on the Arts and an award from the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art; the City of Austin through the Cultural Arts Division and Department of Telecommunications & Regulatory Affairs Grant for Technology Opportunities (GTOPS); and generous support from the Austin Independent School District and KUT News 90.5 FM.
