Texas Folklife is proud to announce that we are an official promotional partner of ATX Celebrates International Women’s Day!

Help commemorate the 2018 International Women's Day by coming out to the Rattletree School of Marimba for Austin's first musical celebration! This event features world renowned music artists including Julie Slim, Leti Garza, Paula Maya, and Rakefet Laviolette (Mafaro Marimba) who will showcase original works as well as covers reflecting music from Brazil, Africa, France, the Middle East, and several Pan American countries. The artists will connect their stories to those of millions of women around the globe in a rally cry for women's equality.

Presale tickets are available now for $10 ($5 for children under 10). Tickets will be $15 at the door. Doors will open at 6pm. People of all ages and all genders are welcome and encouraged to attend!

In alignment with this year's global International Women's Day theme #PressforProgressthe evening unofficially kicks-off SXSW season in town with a courageous conversation about the limited economic opportunities, professional erasure, and threats of violence that women may face in the Austin music scene and in their daily lives.
