Lone Star Legacy:An Introduction to Texas Folk Art

This curriculum guide introduces the concept of folklife and the importance traditions have in various ethnic communities around the state of Texas. The curriculum materials provide an overview of these communities and their art forms, focusing on three different Texas folk art traditions: Mexican-American piñata making, willow chair making, and the many folk art forms associated with Texas ranching. This curriculum guide, while useful alone, works best in conjunction with a slide show available through Texas Folklife Resources. If you are interested in renting the 14-minute slide-tape program that accompanies these curriculum materials, please contact TFR at (512) 441-9255.
