Texas Folklife Mission: Texas Folklife is a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to preserving, presenting, and documenting the diverse cultures and living heritage of the Lone Star State. For 32 years, Texas Folklife has honored the cultural traditions passed down within communities across Texas and explored their importance in contemporary society.  Texas Folklife promotes, presents and documents the state’s rich cultural legacy through a vibrant mix of exhibitions, performances, community residencies, apprenticeships, and educational programs in Austin and around the state.


Position: Administrative Liaison for Non-Profit Organization


Start Date:                    Position open until filed, requires a minimum 2 semester commitment with option to extend to next summer and beyond.

Time Commitment:     Minimum 15 hours per week, preferably two to three times a week in office (office hours are Mon-Fri 10am-6pm)

Supervisor:                  Eugenio del Bosque, Operations Manager

Compensation:            $9 / hour

Eligible for Work Study: Yes

Job Description: Texas Folklife seeks an organized, diligent and reliable individual to assist in non-profit administrative tasks related to fundraising, grant management, membership coordination, communications, event production and office management.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

- Assist in completing grant applications and reports on behalf of Texas Folklife

- Database management

- Processing donations and gifts

- Assist with emails campaigns, web postings and printed materials

- Work with other staff to pursue strategies to grow the membership of Texas Folklife

- Keeping merchandise inventory

- Filing

- Set up, manage, and strike information and merchandise at public events

- Assist with day-to-day administrative tasks as assigned

 

Skills and Experience:

- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and Google Apps

- Good writing skills

- Grant management and donor management software experience is a definite plus

- Desire to learn about art administration, non-profit fundraising and management

- Highly organized and able to manage multiple ongoing projects

- Excellent research and communication skills

Ability to work independently and as apart of a team

- Ability to take direction well and work efficiently
